Sizing details
Here at Melbourne Plugs Co, our plugs are double-flared with 1.5–1.8 mm flaring. If your plugs don’t fit, do not force them. We recommend patience, regular earlobe massage, and wearing slightly heavier organic plugs- such as steel, stone, or glass—to gradually increase elasticity.
It’s important to know your correct size in millimetres before purchasing. You can refer to our handy size conversion sheet in the custom plugs listing images. If your plugs do not fit due to selecting the wrong size, we unfortunately cannot offer a refund, as each order is custom-made and cannot be resold.
Because each pair is handmade using silicone moulding and sanding techniques, sizes may vary by up to 1 mm. Please keep this in mind when placing your order.
Care instructions
We send out our specialised MPC Plug Care & Information Sheets with every single order.
It is important to read and become familiar with both your plug and lobe care alike. Please note; Acrylic plugs will naturally wear down over time - this is unavoidable - but proper care can help extend their lifespan.
Repeated exposure to water and elements accelerates the breakdown of the materials, so handling them carefully is essential. We strongly recommend switching to organic plugs overnight and removing your acrylic plugs before swimming, showering, or sweaty activities.
Please note that we do not replace plugs that become worn or damaged.
Standard Lifespan with good care can be 6-8 months.
What are the plugs made of?
Our Custom and MPC Specialty plugs are made from acrylic resins. Acrylics work well for most skin types, but we recommend wearing them only in fully healed piercings to avoid any potential irritation. We strongly encourage switching between your acrylic plugs and organics like steel, glass, or stone to keep your lobes healthy & get the longest lifespan from your Acrylic Plugs.
We’re proud to offer a growing range of stainless steel and stone plugs for anyone with sensitive skin who can’t wear acrylic. You can seek specific material information on each Listing or reach out to our team for advice if you have any concerns prior to purchasing.
Earlobe Health
Acrylic plugs are only recommended for fully healed piercings. For sensitive skin types, We recommend sticking with organics such as Steel, Stone or Glass.
It’s important to maintain a good hygiene routine for your earlobes.
Here’s a basic step-by-step guide.
Remove your plugs before showering.
Clean plugs thoroughly with a cloth or alcohol wipe and place them on a clean, sterile surface.
Gently wash your earlobes with a moisturizing, fragrance-free soap suitable for sensitive skin.
Dry & Massage your earlobes for 5–10 minutes using a natural oil or moisturizing agent.
Re-insert your plugs gently.
Switch to organic plugs if irritation or inflammation occurs.
Alternate acrylic plugs with organic plugs to support healthy earlobes.
USA Tariffs
With the recent USA import tariffs, we understand concerns about potential delays or extra fees as parcels pass through Customs and Zonos. Rest assured, all parcels are sent with registered tracking and insured postage.
To help cover tariff costs, we’ve added a small $5 AUD fee to USA shipping, but we are still covering the majority of costs ourselves to keep things fair for our customers. This helps ensure you won’t face any surprise fees when receiving or collecting your parcels.
