Frequently Asked Questions
Sizing details
Melbourne Plugs Co plugs have a 1.5 to 1.8mm flare - And are double flared.
As our plugs are hand made with Silicone molding and sanding techniques, sizes may vary by up to 1mm.
Please be aware and account for this whilst ordering.
It is important you know your correct size in mm prior to ordering. If your plugs do not fit due to ordering the wrong size, your order is non refundable as we have produced and delivered your order.
Do not try to force the plugs into your lobes If they don't fit, we recommend patience, massaging your earlobes daily and wearing slightly stone/wood/glass/ heavier organic plugs to increase elasticity.
Care instructions
We send out Melbourne Plugs Co care and information sheets with every order.
It is important to know your plugs will wear down over time but there are things you can do to prolong their lifespan.
Repeated exposure to water will eventually begin to break down the materials we used to make your plugs,
Acrilyc materials will wear down over time, Acrilyc plugs can last longer if cared for well but will eventually break down.
We suggest switching to organics over night and removing your plugs prior to your swimming and showering.
What are the plugs made of?
Our current range of plugs are Acrilyc / Resin based plugs.
Our resins are suitable for most skin types, though we do recommend to only wear these in fully healed piercings to avoid potential inflammation.
We encourage everyone to alternate between their Acrilyc plugs and organics for good earlobe health.
Earlobe Health
Acrilyc Plugs are only recommended for fully healed piercings.
It Is Important to develop a good hygienic routine for your ear lobes, here is a very basic step by step approach, Please contact your local Peircer if you would like a thorough explanation.
Remove your plugs before you shower.
Thoroughly wash and dry plugs, set aside on a sterile surface.
Make a regular habit of gently washing your earlobes with a moisturizing, sensitive skin (fragrance free) based soap.
Massage your earlobes for 5-10 minutes with your choice of natural oils/ moisturizing agent. Re-insert your Plugs gently.
Switch to organic material plugs if irritation or inflammation occurs.
We recommend alternating Acrilyc plugs with organic Plugs.
